The Irish Examiner’s image desk have dipped into our archive and put together an image collection which reveals a truly unique picture of Cork’s past.

A total of 60 archived images have been uploaded and offer a unique insight into life in Cork City and its environs in years gone by.

Here's a selection of the magnificent images which have been unearthed.

This image shows Cork's iconic Patrick St in 1941 and while there may be more suits than tracksuits the Pana was obviously as busy and buzzing as it is today.

This beautiful picture shows a man travelling through the Main Street in Midleton on Fair Day in August 1931.

In this snap we get a view of South Mall in 1946

Taken during the Cork bus strike of September 1947 we get a view in this picture of the city from the bottom of Patrick's Hill looking down Bridge St onto Patrick St.

In our final picture you get a perspective of Cork's Washington Street, looking West, as it would have looked in 1928
