Heroic team rescue horse stuck in gully for two days in Cork
The ISPCA and Cork City Fire Brigade were called to rescue the horse which had become trapped in a narrow waterway near Blarney this afternoon.

The alarm was raised when a member of the public came across the animal and contacted the ISPCA.
It is believed that the horse was trapped in the “chest deep” water for at least two days.
ISPCA Inspector, Lisa O’Donovan, contacted the Amber Team fire services at Ballyvolane who responded immediately to the call.
After two hours of hard work from all parties the horse was removed from the water.

“With heavy rainfall due,” said Ms. O’Donovan, “the horse would have drowned within the next 24 hours, or sooner, as the water levels in the gully were rising.
Veterinary surgeon Dave Canty, attended the scene and the horse is expected to make a full recovery.
