Fifty shades of Edward Cullen

ROBERT PATTINSON has said it is “weird” that the lead character in Fifty Shades Of Grey is based on his Twilight alter-ego.

Author EL JAMESsaid Christian Grey, who is portrayed by JAMIE DORNAN in SAM TAYLOR-JOHNSON’s big-screen adaptation of her novel, was inspired by vampire Edward Cullen, who is played by Rob in the Twilight movies.

“It’s kind of weird and, also, I’ve known Jamie for about 10 years. I haven’t actually read the book, but I think it must be very, very different,” he told Reuters. “I don’t see how it can work if it’s not different.”

Rob, who was at the Berlin Film Festival to promote his new film, Life, praised the strong following for both Fifty Shades Of Grey and the Twilight series. “It’s amazing; it’s that fan-base. There’s some kind of profound connection that a bunch of people have to it and I’ve never figured out quite what it is. It’s just very strange,” he said.

RITA ORA has revealed that her break-up with CALVIN HARRIS gave her a new perspective on her music. The Black Widow singer said that the split with the Scottish DJ, in June, 2014, after a year-long relationship, made her realise she wasn’t being true to herself for her upcoming second album.

“I had a break-up, or whatever, and it really made me realise what I was trying to do. I had been fixated on this love fantasy, but really it wasn’t like that, and I had to take myself back,” the 24-year-old told Nylon.

“For me, this was my moment where I had to be real and tell the truth and be honest. I love my pop songs, and I’m still gonna be pop, but this has just got a lot more depth to it.”

WILL SMITH has become the latest A-lister to take on Top Gear’s reasonably-priced-car challenge.

The Men In Black actor joined the BBC driving show for a crack at completing the course in record time, in a Vauxhall Astra.

According to the Mail Online, Will may have been behind the wheel of a more budget vehicle than he is used to, but he still arrived in style by flying in via helicopter.

He also posted a photo to Facebook, of himself standing alongside the Stig and the car.

Viewers will have to wait to see how he did when his episode is aired, but he will be aiming to beat the current champion, AARON PAUL , who completed the course in 1:44.7.

Coronation Street’s DEBBIE RUSH has praised her young co-star ELLIE LEACH’s approach to playing a pregnant 12-year-old.

Anna Windass’ daughter, Faye, played by 13-year-old Ellie, is set to discover on Friday that she is pregnant, after months of worrying about why she is gaining weight. And Corrie bosses have confirmed Faye will keep the pregnancy a secret from her Anna, played by Debbie.

Debbie said: “Ellie is a little star — she has really risen to the challenge of this storyline and I couldn’t be prouder of her. She always has a big smile on her face and is a pleasure to work with. She is nothing like Faye, not at all sullen and moody. We are very close and both looking forward to all the great scenes to come when Anna finds out.

“It will be a huge challenge, as we have known about this story for so long now but, obviously, nothing has been mentioned on screen, so we are ready to start playing it all out now. It will be interesting to see how Faye and Anna cope with it all.”
