Barber offers ’old man’ haircuts to shame misbehaving kids

Three days a week, parents can take their troublesome kids to A-1 Kutz barbers where they will enter as kids and leave looking like little old men.

And it's free of charge.

That is one unhappy face.

It might not be the most enlightened of punishments but according to barber and co-owner Russell Fredrick, it works.

It all started when Fredrick used the cut as a disciplinary measure on his son Rushawn. His grades, which had been falling, "dramatically skyrocketed" after the cut.

From the Washington Post:

"The cut involves shaving hair off the child's crown until he begins to resemble a balding senior citizen, inviting that unique brand of adolescent humiliation that can only come from teasing classmates and unwanted attention."

The story came to nationalattention in the US after a photo of another recipient of the 'Benjamimn Button' was shared on the barber's Instagram page.

Russell tells the Post that the reaction has been mostly positive:

"There are a few people that are saying it's emotional abuse; but on average, everyone is applauding the mother that brought the child in - and applauding me as well."

The little boy in the photo was brought back in a week later for a new style better suited to his age and says "he don't want them problems again".
