Cork man proposes to his girlfriend at iconic Kuala Lumpur spot

Musician Keith Woodgate, who is the lead singer in a rock band named Revenge, was holidaying with his fiancé Pauline Brosnan in Malaysia. Pauline treated him to the holiday to celebrate his 40th birthday next month.
He showed his appreciation by surprising her on the steps beneath the Petronas Towers, getting down on one knee and popping the question.
Keith, from Mallow, has shared a photo of the romantic moment with us.

Keith says they “had the most amazing, beautiful and fun holiday”.
“We love Thailand and it was our second visit and on our 3rd year anniversary.”

Keith had an engagement ring custom made for Liscarroll native Pauline, but he had no idea where or when he would propose - until they reached Malaysia.
“We were staying one night in Kuala Lumpar before flying home and when I saw the Petronas Towers all lit up while we were taking pictures I knew it was the perfect time and the perfect location to propose at the end of a magical holiday.”
Now that he had the perfect location, Keith was still left with a pressing issue. How was he to capture the moment on camera?
Luckily he bumped into some obliging tourists.
“I tried very hard to explain to a Chinese couple what I was about to do and if they could take some pictures of us both.
“I climbed the steps, the Chinese couple were snapping away and I asked her. Thankfully she said YES and the whole square erupted with applause and cheers.”

Although the perfect photo had been taken, Keith almost lost it in the immediate aftermath of their engagement.
“I dropped my iPhone a few minutes later and it smashed on the ground. Thankfully it still barely works. The screen is in bits, there’s no sound but the pictures were saved. Phew!”
The happy couple are now planning their dream wedding in Thailand. Congratulations!
