Lots of furniture on offer at Woodwards

A set of Cork inlaid 11-bar dining chairs and a pair of cast-iron benches are among the highlights at Woodward’s opening auction of 2015 in Cork next Wednesday at 6pm.

Each is estimated at €2,000 to €3,000. The sale includes contents from houses recently sold by Woodward’s such as a Georgian dome-topped mahogany wine cooler on stand (€600 to €800), an oval two-tier butler’s table (€400 to €600), and a parquetry inlaid, kidney- shaped writing desk (€500 to €600).

Other furniture lots include a Georgian bureau bookcase (€1,000 to €1,500), an Edwardian inlaid walnut credenza (€800 to €1,000), a Georgian square table on pod (€600 to €1,000), a French walnut writing desk (€750 to €1,000), a Regency sofa table (€500 to €800) and a Victorian chest of drawers (€400 to €600).

There is Waterford and other glassware on offer, a large Wedgwood dinner service, an Oriental writing slope, silver and plate, as well as paintings and prints.

The sale is on view from noon to 5pm today, 2pm to 5pm tomorrow and from 10am to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
