VIDEO: Toddler narrowly escapes exploding manhole

A toddler very narrowly avoided being injured when a manhole exploded as she walked past with her parents.

The incident took place yesterday at 12.20pm on Warwick Road in Birmingham and was captured on CCTV.

The explosion which is believed to have been caused by a build-up of combustible gases blew the square metal cover several feet into the air, missing the young girl by inches.
