Top showing Kurt Cobain suicide note causes outrage

Fans were left disgusted after a Twitter user posted an image of herself wearing the top, and saying: "The best T-shirt I ever received in the mail (Kurt Cobain suicide letter)."

The tweet instantly caused an outpouring of anger in the form of expletive-filled tweets and death threats.

The troubled Nirvana frontman died in 1994 after battling with a heroin addiction and depression.

He was found dead from a gunshot wound a week after he had escaped from rehab where he was recovering from an accidental overdose.

The note was only released in 2014 along with some photos of the suicide scene by Seattle police after having been found in Kurt Cobain's wallet at the time of his death.

The buyer of the offending top was defiant in the wake of the tweets, saying the outrage over the top has made it into a fashion statement.

She said: "Aren't you guys making it a fashion statement? Cause honestly no one cared before now, or noticed."

She then apologised to her friends for all the hate-filled tweets on their Twitter streams, saying: "Love all my friends, sorry about everyone's TL."

Before she posted a final tweet on the subject, saying: 'Last tweet on the subject, sorry if it offended you, I see where you're coming from but I'm not changing anything, you don't know me bye.'

The top was originally posted on Etsy and eBay, but has since been removed.
