The Simpsons snuck in a Charlie Hebdo tribute last night
In a quick, blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, the show's creators used a scene transition to pop up their brief message.
The quick display shows Maggie holding a flag emblazoned with the words "Je suis Charlie", with one shoulder loose - in a tribute to the famous painting (Liberty leading the people).

That painting, by Eugène Delacroix, is itself a tribute to the French Revolution in 1830 (and painted later that year) - it shows Liberty personified leading the French people with the nation's tricolour held aloft.
A weighty reference to squeeze into a one-second clip.
