Gay couple kicked out of Uber Cab for kissing

A gay couple have accused a driver of an Uber Cab in London of throwing them out because they were kissing.

Corey Watts and his boyfriend Jordan Sloan were traveling home from Covent Garden on New Years Day when the driver of the cab told them to get out of the vehicle.

Just got asked to get out of an @Uber cab for kissing my boyfriend. Flipped my shit.

In an interview with ITV News, Mr. Sloan said they were ordered to get out of the car almost immediately after being picked up.

"We were kissing and cuddled next to each other when a minute or two after picking us up he pulled over and told us to get out," he said.

In response to the couple asking why they were being kicked out, the driver allegedly responded by saying: "I take gays but they don't normally do this."

"I've never had any homophobic stuff happen to me so I was caught off guard," said Sloan, originally from Canada.

"You don't expect it to happen in one of the world's biggest cities."

Ok we did not expect that kind of reaction from the tweet, but you just can't have archaic and discriminative views in London 2015.

"I wanted to understand what he was thinking so I asked the driver: 'Would you do the same thing if it was a guy or a girl?'"

We weren't drunk or rowdy. It was a kiss between my boyfriend and I that would not have caused an issue had we been male & female.

Watts, a hair stylist from Cardiff said he was bit "hot-headed" when the driver told him the reason he was asking them to leave.

He accused the driver of "disgusting homophobia" as he was very angry at what was happening.

The couple were charged for the brief journey but later refunded.

He has said that he is "adamant" about never using Uber Cabs again.

A spokesperson from Uber told ITV News: “Uber does not tolerate any form of discrimination either by our partner drivers or towards our partner drivers.

"We opened an investigation from the moment we learned of this unacceptable incident and have been in contact with the rider to extended our sincere apologies and get further information.

"The driver concerned has been suspended from the Uber platform.”
