Limerick woman’s family planned a homecoming treat at the airport but she had a bigger surprise for them
Unknown to Carmel, her parents had planned an amazing homecoming surprise for her in Terminal 2.
The O'Connor family arranged for music group Draíocht to welcome their "baby girl" home with a performance at arrivals.
"This is going to be our first Christmas together in four years," her mother Dympna says.
Her dad, Donie O'Connor, explains that it was his wife's idea to go all out for Carmel's return home.
"It all started back when Carmel decided they'd come back for Christmas. It was fantastic to bring her home.
"Dympna came up with the idea of not having just ourselves here but maybe bringing a group as well - Draíocht."
Carmel's brother Jack is a member of Draíocht.
"Having her home for Christmas this time is going to be extra special," he says.
A visibly emotional Carmel was delighted with the unexpected show.
"I couldn't have imagined anything better," she says. She soon proves that one thing could make the occasion more special.
"May as well do it as we're going out with a bang," Carmel says as she gathers her family around her to make her big announcement.
"I'm not going back. I'm home. Surprise!"
