ESB art collection sale dominated by affordable Irish landscapes

Works on offer were accumulated over many years by the ESB and the sale is dominated by Irish landscapes.
Hidden Landscape by Patrick Collins, once in the collection of Sir Basil Goulding, is estimated at €7,000-€10,000. Spring Planting (€5,000-€7,000) by Norah McGuinness, The Road to the Beach (€3,000-€5,000) by Patrick Hennessy and a northern coastal scene (€5,000-€7,000) by Frank McKelvey are other highlights.
The well-known Seán Keating paintings and drawings of the Shannon and Liffey schemes remain in the ownership of the ESB.
The catalogue cover lot is a 1982 work by Cecil Maguire showing moored boats at Claddagh Quay in Galway. The estimate is €3,000-€5,000.
Abstracts include two large oils by Charles Tyrrell from the late 1980’s estimated at €5,000-€8,000 each.
There is a good selection of affordable Irish art and most lots will be sold without reserve.
Viewing is from 2 pm to 5 pm tomorrow and from 9.30 am to 5 pm on Monday and Tuesday.
