Take Me to the Awards: Hozier wins major European music prize

Irish act Hozier is gaining yet more plaudits after being announced as the Irish winner of the European Border Breakers award (EBBA).

The Co. Wicklow singer will receive his award at a ceremony hosted by TV presenter and musician Jools Holland at the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in Groningen, Netherlands, on January 14 next year.

The event will be streamed live on Youtube and shown on national stations across the continent.

Former winners of the EBBA - which celebrates the best new pop, rock and dance acts in Europe - include Adele, Emeli Sandé, Mumford & Sons, Lykke Li, Disclosure, Katie Melua, The Ting Tings, The Script, Damien Rice and KT Tunstall.
