Video: How’s this for a U-turn?

A lorry driver who didn’t speak English found a unique way to avoid an £11 toll by performing a U-turn onto a busy motorway.

Lithuanian driver, Leonid Papachin, got a two-year suspended sentence and was fined £85 for attempting the turn onto the M6 motorway in Staffordshire after driving the wrong way down a slip road.

The incident arose because his cash card wasn't accepted as payment at a toll booth and he couldn't explain the problem to staff due to the language barrier, so he turned back to perform the illegal manoeuvre.

West Midlands Police released this video yesterday.
