Mix of styles and genres at art sale

Abstract art, sculpture, landscape, seascape and portraiture all feature at the sale of the Ib Jorgensen Collection at James Adam in Dublin next Tuesday (November 11) at 6 pm.

The 110 lots in the catalogue from the collection of this gallerist and former couturier will attract considerable interest. Jorgensen Fine Art is no longer operating as a gallery but Ib Jorgensen will continue to represent artists and exhibit at fairs.

The art on offer ranges from the minimalistic abstraction of William Scott to delicate floral studies by Wendy Walsh. There is sculpture by Rowan Gillespie, Mark Rode, John Behan and Affortunato Gori.

Among theIrish works are Colin Middleton’s Girl with Sunflower (€15,000-€25,000), Camille Souter’s Blasted Ballyorney (€8,000-€12,000); George Russell’s Woods at Raheen (€5,000-€8,000); and Fishing Harbour Night by George Campbell (€4,000-€6,000).

There are examples by Tony O’Malley, Patrick Scott, Barrie Cooke, Liam Belton, Trevor Geoghegan, Brian Ferran, Rose Stapleton, Basil Blackshaw and Conor Walton.

The sale marries styles and genres from the late 19th century to the present and estimates are affordable. There will be viewing at the Adam’s Salerooms, St. Stephen’s Green from 2 pm to 5pm tomorrow and from 9.20am to 5pm on Monday and Tuesday.
