Antiques in brief: First place for medals
It will include a set of nine Emergency Medals, War of Independence Medals, Black and Tan Medals and a 1971 Survivors Medal. The auction is on view today from 10am to 6 pm and from 9am tomorrow.
The Fels Point Hotel in Tralee is the venue for an antique fair tomorrow. Hibernian Antique Fairs will be in attendance with 25 stands and a strong emphasis on furniture. Among the exhibitors are Hugo Green from Greene’s Antiques, Drogheda, Ned Guiney Furniture, Buttevant, Co Cork and William Hartnett from Co. Limerick.
The top lot at Keighery’s sale in Waterford on Monday was a pair of Waterford Crystal candelabra. They made €3,700. A six branch Waterford chandelier made €1,300 and a diamond solitaire ring and a ruby and sapphire twist ring each made €2,500.
Purcell’s Auctioneers will hold an attic and workshop clearance auction at Birr Castle Demesne at 2pm tomorrow. The sale of more than 500 lots contains everything from hip baths to ice skates, quantities of books, chair covers and curtains to 18th century rushlight holders. The auction is on view today. The regular monthly auction at Purcells in Birr is also happening today
The 12th Frieze Art Fair takes place in Regent’s Park, London from next Wednesday to October 18. One of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs, it will be attended by 160 of the world’s top galleries.
IMLINE is the title of an exhibition by Sinead Ni Mhaonaigh at Triskel Christchurch in Cork until November 1. It is part of a series entitled ‘Calling up the Vangard’ which is curated by John Quinlan.
