Prime lots include a pair of Regency Cork-made side cabinets estimated at €3,000-€4,000. Marshs auction rooms is at Rochford’s lane off South Mall-Grand Parade.


The top lot at Lynes and Lynes sale in Carrigtwohill last Saturday was a pair of Victorian girandole mirrors. They sold for €1,060. An Edwardian mahogany wardrobe, a Waterford Crystal chandelier and an antique two-door bookcase each sold for €1,000. A set of 12 volumes of Corporation Reports for Cork made €720.


A one man show by sculptor John Behan, dedicated to the memory of Gerald and Sheila Goldberg, who were great patrons of his work, opens at the Lavit Gallery in Cork next Tuesday. It includes a bronze of fishmonger Pat O’Connell meeting Britain’s Queen Elizabeth at the English Market in Cork. In a note to the catalogue, Professor Dermot Keogh of UCC expresses the hope that a larger version will grace the market soon. The show runs until October 28.


The latest off the wall online art auction at Morgan O’Driscoll runs to next Monday at 6.30pm. The catalogue is online at and the paintings will be on view in Skibbereen from 11am to 3pm on Monday. The auction features work by Kennth Webb, Dan O’Neill, Maurice Wilks, Victor Vasarely, Margaret Egan, Arthur Maderson and more.
