A Triptych watercolour of Cork Harbour, probably from around 1864 by John Corbett (1822-1893), is a rarity at Whyte’s sale at the RDS on Monday at 6 pm.

Corbett was Royal Navy Captain of HMS Hastings at Queenstown for two years from 1864 and the watercolour is estimated at €1,500-€1,800.

The auction will include a selection of work by Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst from the Taylor Collection in Belfast among 216 lots of Irish and international painting and sculpture. There are major oils by Sir John Lavery, Mainie Jellett and Dan O’Neill at de Vere’s auction of Irish art and design at 6pm next Tuesday at Bewley’s in Ballsbridge.

The sale offers 120 lots of Irish art and 35 lots of quality 20th century classic design furniture.

Among many rarities at Sheppards three-day sale in Durrow next Tuesday are an Irish Georgian yew wood long case clock, a large George III Dublin brass framed hall lantern, an 18/19 century marble bust, and a Regency specimen marble top.
