VIDEO: Kinsale art journeys from the mundane to the profound

One of the visual highlights of Kinsale Arts Festival is an exhibition by celebrated Dublin artist, Kathy Prendergast, who pushes the boundaries between traditional and contemporary art.

Prendergast’s exhibition at The Mill in Kinsale is entitled ‘The Furthest Place from the Centre of the Earth’, and it is certainly beguiling and enigmatic.

So, what drew the artist to come up with such a title? “I was drawn to the sentence, because it is open to interpretation,” says Prendergast, who adds that the title could also mean something personal, something about how we see ourselves in relation to others.
