Wish List: bench by Snug
WEATHERING brings together new work from contemporary Irish designers and craftspeople and was one of the highlights of the Crafts Council of Ireland show at Tent London as part of London Design Festival 2014. There were a number of exciting and exclusive collaborations between Irish makers and internationally renowned designers. Award-winning designer, Andrew Clancy of Déanta Design teamed up with boat-builder, Matthew O’Malley, to create a new chair. Horizon Furniture’s “Stanley Lounge Chair” in a solid frame in Irish oak was upholstered in Donegal tweed by Molloy & Sons and pepper mills designed by Makers & Brothers and handcrafted by wood turner Matt Jones, were launched at the event. Over 25 Irish designers and makers working in furniture, wood, glass, ceramics, textiles, lighting and basketry were represented. Pictured is a bench by Snug, (€395 www.snug.ie ) rug by Kate Hessian (€1,320 www.ceadogan.ie ) and Ceramics by Derek Wilson (€56 each www.derekwilsonceramics.com ). www.snug.ie
