Lots of lots and lectures at IADA annual show

The annual lecture series at the Irish Antique Dealers’ Association Fair (IADA), which opens in the Main Hall at the RDS, in Dublin next Thursday evening, September 25, will cover topics as diverse as the art of lacquer, silver and vintage fashion.

This annual showcase fair by the IADA is evolving with the times.

Contemporary mix and match styles to suit the current tastes will feature among the antique furniture, silver, jewellery, art and collectibles on show.

The lecture series starts next Friday at noon when Antoinette Murphy will deliver a talk on ‘Gardens in Art’.

This will be followed at 2 pm with a talk on the art of lacquer by Roxane Moorhead.

The lectures on this day week are by Zara Power, who will talk on the history of the pearl at 12 noon, followed by vintage fashion at 2 pm by Sarah Donaldson.

On Sunday week, the last day of the fair, Fiona Ahern will deliver a lecture on the life and work of the 18th century Cork silversmith, Jane Williams at noon.

At 2 pm, Dr Angela Griffith will talk about key figures in Irish painting.

Opening times for the fair are from 11 am to 9 pm next Friday, September 26 from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm on this day week, and from 11.00 am to 6.00 pm on Sunday week.
