Phil McNamara was filming Mount Tavurvur on holiday in Papua New Guinea when it suddenly erupted.

The explosive video was posted on YouTube at the weekend and has been viewed almost 7 million times since.

The footage shows the shockwave moving through the air as it approaches the tourist's boat. It takes a few seconds for the sound to catch up to the shockwave.
