A sapphire of Burmese origin with no sign of treatment is among a selection of coloured stones on offer at O’Reilly’s at Francis St in Dublin next Wednesday at 1pm. It is part of a three-stone ring with two brilliant cut diamonds mounted in white gold. The gemstone report states the sapphire is 3.90 carats and the ring is estimated at €10,000-€22,000. The auction is on view from noon to 4pm tomorrow, from 11am to 5pm on Tuesday, and from 10am to 12.30pm on Wednesday.
An online auction of vintage and modern pieces runs at Christie’s until September 3. It features everyday wearable pieces, fine coloured gems, classic jadeite and pearls and timepieces.

A specially commissioned work by Dorothy Cross entitled Eye of Shark made in response to the architecture of St Carthage’s Hall, Lismore, Co Waterford, opens as part Lismore Castle Arts next Saturday (September 6) and runs until October 19.
