Downton cast back water charity after blunder

After a water bottle made its way into a Downton Abbey promotional shot, the cast has poured water on the flames of the controversy with a charity snap.

The cast poked fun at the blunder by posing for a shot that shows every one of them holding up a plastic water bottle and looking sheepish – all for the benefit of WaterAid.

An ITV spokesman said: “After seeing the reaction the picture caused earlier this week, the cast and crew came up with the idea of turning some of this attention towards an issue around water that really matters.

“They hope that by posing for this picture they will be able to raise awareness and amplify the work of international charity – WaterAid.”
