Late last night the world learned of the tragic death of actor and comedian Robin Williams.

Shortly after the news broke, millions of fans took to Twitter to express their grief and shock and offer condolences to those who knew him personally.

Many shared fond memories of the actor splitting sides in Mrs Doubtfire, tugging heartstrings in Jumanji, and inspiring awe in the award-winning Dead Poets Society.

This is the way we should remember the legend that was Robin Williams, according to his wife Susan.

In a statement, she said:

“This morning I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope that the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
