Just a few things from the house...

A single-owner collection of fine and decorative art, including period paintings, porcelain, silver and furniture forms the backbone of Mealy’s two- day sale in Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny next Tuesday and Wednesday (July 15-16). The Tuesday sale will feature the Denton-Miller collection of 150 lots of African Tribal Art, a collection begun in 1959 and amassed in countries including Tanzania, The Congo, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia and Zambia.

Collectibles on day one include Chinese and European porcelain; light fittings; silver; tribal art; militaria; jewellery and clocks — including an Irish Regency bracket clock by Robert Shaw of Belfast. Antique furniture and art will be offered on Wednesday, with lots which include a 19th century Chinese or Mongolian marriage chest; a Regency inlaid sofa table; an Irish giltwood 19th century mirror; a George III card table; a breakfront William IV secretaire bookcase and a Georgian oak book press.

Viewing is from noon to 5pm tomorrow and 10am to 5pm on Monday. Sales start on the 15th and 16th at 11am.
