The role played by women in the history of Irish art is the focus of the summer loan exhibition at James Adam.

Women’s role in Irish art in focus

It sets out to highlight the part played by women from the foundation of the Watercolour Society to the introduction of Modernism and the founding of the Irish Exhibition of Living Art from 1943.

Artists featured include Sarah Purser, Helen Mabel Trevor, Mildred Ann Butler, Rose Barton, Mainie Jellett, Evie Hone, Elizabeth Rivers, Norah McGuinness, Letitia Hamilton, Grace Henry, Lady Glenavy, Estella Solomons and the sculptors Hilary Heron and Gerda Fromel.
