Web watch: Urbane Jane

Every home needs a command centre and if yours doesn’t have one, well, better browse on over to Canadian Jane (who claims she’s urbane) and find out how it’s done.

Then you just need to find the Irish equivalent to Staples and Michael’s Dollar Store, grab some hooks, a cork board and patterned washi tape et voila, you can create your own organisation station that is both fabulous and functional. Now that you’re all organised, why not follow some of Jane’s other DIY projects, her long narrow sofa table is a clever perch for family photos and a wine glass or two. Well she is urbane after all.

2. Fine Little Day

There’s a fun vibe to this home wares site and blog run by Swedish designer Elisabeth Dunker. With clients such as Ikea and Urban Outfitters under her belt, the style is folksy but clean and pared back. Her own fir tree pattern works in a range of materials and tones from screen-printed cushions to kid’s jumpers. Limited edition prints featuring ants, tattoo transfers, bean bags based on Kilimanjaro and Mount Fuji, funky mobiles and surprisingly — a number of hot water bottle covers — all feature. If you’re a fan of wallpaper check out the designer’s house pics for some serious eye candy.
