At first I thought this was a blog for elderly interior enthusiasts (like myself), on further investigation I realise it is a young “rambunctious” family with a penchant for renovating Victorian houses. I beg you to check out the family portrait — think The Sullivans with matching pink bunny slippers. Heidi, the blog keeper, is a qualified architect, so there are detailed technical drawings and photos of insulation as well as the intriguingly titled “half-bath” — a small toilet under the stairs.

Some uniquely Irish upcycling is to be found at www.kylelane.ie. The shop in Clonmel is run by an equally talented mother-and-daughter team and the website has a great gallery of pieces they have been lovingly resurrected with eco-friendly paint and an eye for colour and pattern in a range of finishes from understated to saturated. Businesses are also catered for, including retro signage, The old style telephone box turned wardrobe is inspired, although you might have to explain it to the young people in your life.
