Bookcases take centre stage

A pair of 19th century library bookcases will lead a furniture collection on offer at Hegarty’s sale in Carrigaline Court Hotel next Monday, May 19, at 7pm.

On offer are contents from Harbour View House, Kilbrittain, formerly the residents of the Gollins family, who have returned to Devon in England. The library bookcases, estimated at €6,000-€10,000, are from Kilbrittain. Other lots include a Regency Rosewood Irish side table (€4,000-€6,000), an George II foldover Irish card table (€5,000-€8,000) and an Edwardian kidney shaped desk by Roberts and Roberts (€3,000-€5,000).

There will be more than 100 lots from an horological collection amassed over 50 years including wall, mantle and carriage clocks.

The auction of 350 lots includes Irish and English silver, giltwood mirrors, Oriental and Europea porcelain, collectibles and Irish art.

Viewing is from 2pm to 8pm tomorrow and from noon to the start of the auction on Monday.
