Webb collection: going, going...

Born in London in 1927, Webb came to the Ulster College of Art in 1953 as head of the painting school. In 1957 he founded the Irish School of Landscape Painting and his works have proved enduringly popular.

The 33 lots from his private collection include paintings by Colin Middleton, Percy French and Markey Robinson, work by Joan, Susan and Bryn David Webb and some of his own art.

There are some pieces of antique furniture, including a c1800 card table, a Georgian demi-lune side table, a circular marquetry inlaid table, a late 17th century stained oak chest and an early 20th century nest of Chinese tables.

The sale of nearly 300 lots will include 19 paintings from the studio of Carol Ann Waldron to be sold without reserve. The catalogue cover is a charcoal drawing by Sean Keating entitled Susanna estimated at €6,000-€8,000. Viewing at Kelly’s is from 10am to 8pm today and tomorrow (Sunday May 3), and from 10am to the start of the sale on Monday.
