Cork six bar chairs are among auction rarities
Cork eleven bar chairs are prized by collectors, as are nine bar chairs, but six bar chairs are rarer as they tend to be earlier.

A set of Cork six bar chairs is one of the rarities at Lynes and Lynes auction in Carrigtwohill next Saturday at 11am.
The eight chairs are similar to a set sold from the Dunkathel House collection a few years ago. Cork eleven bar chairs are prized by collectors, as are nine bar chairs, but six bar chairs are rarer as they tend to be earlier. This set is reasonably estimated at just €1,200-€1,500 as this is an executor’s clearance.
Other lots of note include a Cork Georgian mahogany wine cooler (€1,200-€1,500), a set of antique mahogany library steps (€200-€400); an antique couch (€300-€500); four 19th century silver-plated dish covers (€300-€500); a wing back armchair (€800-€1,200); and a Copeland jug and bowl set (€100-€200).
Art includes a Connemara landscape by Charles Lamb (€2,000-€3,000), and the sale of more than 300 lots also offers medals, books, porcelain, glassware, mirrors and collectible items.
The sale is on view next Thursday and Friday from 10am to 8pm.
