Tapestry highlight of sale
A LOUIS le Brocquy colour inverted Aubusson tapestry and a pair of Art Deco fauteuils will highlight the de Veres design sale at The Pavilion, Leopardstown Racecourse at 2pm. today.
Among 350 lots of classic 20th century design and contemporary furniture and lighting are examples by Arne Jacobsen, le Corbusier, Sir Norman Foster, Philippe Starck and the Parisian firm of Hettier and Vincent.
The tapestry is estimated at €40,000-€60,000. The Art Deco fauteuils by Georges de Bardyere have an estimate of € 8,000-€12,000, but many lots are much more affordable.
A pair of lamps by Starck (€600-€900), the Nomos Table by Sir Norman Foster (€1,500-€2,000), the LC3 armchair by le Corbusier (€1,000-€1,500), a pair of swan chairs by Arne Jacobsen (€1,500-€2,500), an Art Deco chandelier by Hettier and Vincent (€1,500-€2,500) and a set of six Eros chairs by Starck (€600-€900) are within the range of most avid collectors. de Veres has been building up a clientele for such sales and this is their biggest design auction to date.
