New shorts design ensures mums have plenty of support
Mum-of-three Yvonne Brady, 41, says her shorts are like a running bra but instead they give support to the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor. She also wants to break the taboo around leaking of urine and says women of all ages can need a bit of extra support — and not just after having a baby.
“The shorts provide stability for the pelvic floor. They hold in and hold up the abdominal muscles. They also help women of all ages doing high-impact sports. In fact 28% of elite athletes suffer from this,” she said.
After the birth of her third child, said Yvonne, “I had a little bit of leakage and I thought I was alone.
“I didn’t speak about it to anybody but I looked for a product to help me and couldn’t find one.”

She put her engineering knowledge to work and her shorts feature medical grade compression panels that give support to the abdomen, lower back and perineum and effectively take pressure off the core muscles.
They have also been endorsed by Irish Olympian, and winner of the 2013 Dublin marathon, Maria McCambridge, also a mum.
“I am delighted to be associated with EVB sports shorts having seen so many women quit sport because they were unable to access the support that these shorts provide,” she said.
The need to address the problem was highlighted by the preliminary findings of a study by Trinity College and the Health Research Board into the health of women who have had babies.
It found 62% of women do not talk to their doctor about leaking urine and Yvonne hopes that the support of the dragons will help her business and educate girls and women about the importance of looking after their core muscles.
