De Vere’s auction will be strongest spring sale

De Vere’s auction will be strongest spring sale

The Irish art sale by de Vere’s at Bewley’s Hotel, Thomas Prior Hall, Ballsbridge next Tuesday, March 25, at 6pm will include significant works by Jack Yeats, John Lavery, Roderic O’Conor, Gerard Dillon, Colin Middleton, Louis le Brocquy, John Doherty, Sean McSweeney, Tony O’Malley and Camille Souter.

The auctioneers say that this will be the strongest spring sale they have held in recent years, aided by the strength of the market at the end of 2013 which has brought about a fresh supply of quality work. In 2013 there were buyers available, but a shortage of work at the top end of the market.

For this sale de Vere’s will offer a Roderic O’Conor still life estimated at €60,000-€90,000; Tony O’Malley’s Le Geria (€20,000-€30,000), Fantail Pigeons by Louis le Brocquy (€40,000-€60,000); Arkle Racing, Marlborough St., Dublin by John Doherty (€25,000-€35,000); The Sisters by Jack Butler Yeats (€50,000-70,000) and Girl with Stripes by Colin Middleton (€60,000-€90,000).

There will be viewing from 2pm to 6pm tomorrow, from 9.30am to 8pm on Monday and 9.30am to 3pm on Tuesday.
