Harvey Norman are helping out with any ‘got to eat better’ resolutions. The Kenwood BLX51 is a powerful, 800w blender with a versatile design suitable for right-and left-handed use. The poor lefties do get forgotten about in the gadget department; so nice to see the Kenwood boffins looking after them. The BLX51 includes ‘Pulse Plus’, good for ice-crushing, drinks, soups and dips.
€159 from stores nationwide or have a browse on www.harveynorman.ie.
As designs for teapots go, this is a pretty funky one. The Rika Geo teapot is designed by Paperchase and could be yours for under €20. Not including p&p. www.paperchase.co.uk.
Carewswood is the brainchild of couple, Daniel Leahy and Juulika Lomp, who combine their horticultural and culinary skills with an eco-friendly ethos in their garden centre and café. The centre is set within a traditional, 19th century walled garden, a half-hour drive from Cork City, in Castlemartyr, and is worth a visit. I love this ornamental, handcrafted watering can, €42, and there is a selection of other animals available, starting from €25. www.carewswoodgardencentre.ie. 021-2428494.
Abigail Ahern has already created some rather quirky designs with her animal lamps, and now she’s working her mischievous magic on cushions for Debenhams. This perfect penguin is €31.
These earrings are sure to get you a chain reaction when you wear them — see what I did there? I got a pair of these as a present from a friend in Holland and I love them. These mismatched earrings are made from recycled bicycle parts and inner-tubes. The ‘feathers’ are handmade with recycled bike tubes. 24$ USD, which is about €17.50 of our fine euro.
