‘The Birth of Modern Music’ is the programme for the Music for Galway Midwinter Festival, which runs from Jan 17 to 19.

The festival will focus on the period 1893 to 1913, when composition went in dramatic directions, and the musical rule book was discarded.

With ground-breaking work from the likes of Debussy, Stravinsky and Schoenberg, music was changed forever.
