Emerging young musician Bruce Springsteen, 64, is widely rumoured to be following up last year’s Wrecking Ball album and zillion-date tour with a new long player early in the new year. A new track from the Boss, featuring guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, is already available online. With the annual Record Store Day approaching next Friday, one of the more interesting releases for the occasion is the Flaming Lips’cover of the Stone Roses eponymous debut album.
Who has made the most money in the music world this year? While most people would throw in such names as Lady Gaga, One Direction or Springsteen, according to Forbes magazine, it’s Madonna. Again. Apparently her MDNA tour, along with merchandise, clothes and perfume, earned the 55-year-old about $125m. Finally, Lou Reed fans may be interested in the screening at Triskel Christchurch in Cork next Thursday of Lou Reed’s Berlin, a film of his performance of his classic album in New York in 2006.
