Sunday silver at your service
Cork silversmiths from bygone days are well represented at the Sunday Interiors sale at James Adam in Dublin tomorrow at 11.30 am.
The auction includes an important collection of Irish and English antique silver of varying styles by Cork makers like Robert Goble, William Newenham; Carden Terry and Jane Williams of Cork.
Highlights include a c1700 Queen Anne strawberry dish by Robert Goble (€5,000-€7,000), and a George I lemon strainer by William Newenham (€2,000-€4,000), for punch making.
There is a rare set of four Irish George II candlesticks by Robert Calderwood (€8,000-10,000), and a pair of Irish George II sauceboats by John Hamilton (€6,000-€10,000).
Among the pieces by celebrated London maker Paul Storr are a George IV tureen (€3,000-€5,000), and an elegant tea caddy (€1,500-€2,500). Many of the pieces on offer are more affordable than this.
The auction will feature jewellery, sculpture, paintings, furniture, rugs and collectibles among more than 600 lots. There is viewing today from 11 am to 5 pm.
