Antique fair in Limerick is the ‘biggest’ in Ireland

ANTIQUES of every description, from furniture, art, jewellery, silver, porcelain, glass and books to vintage fashion, coins and banknotes are featured at the National Antique and Art Fair, which will be held in Limerick this weekend.

There will be more than 80 stands, with 100 dealers, and the South Court Hotel is the venue — the opening times are from 11am to 6pm, today and tomorrow.

Fairs are growing in popularity and this annual, two-day event is, say the organisers, Hibernian Antique Fairs, bigger than any other of its kind in Ireland.

A number of prime exhibitors are from the Irish Antique Dealers’ Association and antique furniture dealers from Cork, Limerick; Clare; Galway; Mayo; Wicklow and Louth will attend.

Contemporary Irish art can be found at the stands of Athlone-based, Treasures Irish art; the Whitley Gallery, from Co Wickow; Gallery Zozimus, of Francis St, Dublin and Annemarie Bourke, from Limerick.

There are dealers in porcelain, and collectibles from all over the country, including Northern Ireland, and collectors of jewellery, silver and vintage items will be spoiled for choice.

This is the 23rd year of the Limerick fair and it has grown steadily throughout.
