Web Watch: Cupcakery

1. Get over the dodgy spelling and this is — as it says itself — a freshly-baked, treat-filled blog dabbling in all things homemade.

This chick is a cake nerd, and proud of it. She lives in Limerick and she is highly inventive when it comes to the old baking. There’s a Star Bar recipe on there that sounds incredible. And the owl cupcakes are — yes, you’ve guessed it — a hoot. The crafting section is nice too, where she gives lots of: “Tips, tips, tippity, tips”.

2. The Peak of ChicIt rhymes! And she’s written a book! And it’s a great site. There’s everything here, kind of like a history of design really as Jennifer Boles swoops through back issues of all the cool glossies. Click into her 1980s tab, for example and you’ll find Jacqueline de Ribes’ Paris town house boasting “silk and more silk and wonderful tapestries”, while the 1920s tab offers up a dressing room in a Greenwich, Connecticut home that was decorated by Elsie de Wolfe. Glorious.
