Pic 5: You can’t have too many jugs, use it for juice or flowers or just to look nice on the table. This large ceramic jug is €24 from Next Home stores nationwide and online at ie.nextdirect.com/en/

Pic 6: With the nights drawing in, candles are a lovely addition on these autumn evenings — snuff them out in style with this lovely amber snuffer €9.95, available from Meadows and Byrne in Blarney Woolen Mills, Cork. www.blarney.com

Pic 7: With a background in fine art and a master in fine printmaking, and artists for parents, Magdalena Makowska reckons creating art is in her genes. Fair enough question though — why cows? “I was drawn to these curious fellows when I first saw them as a subject for a painting. They were not just a herd of cows — they were individuals with fascinating personalities. I believe that if you engage in your life and everything you believe in truly, with love and passion, everything else will fall into place. I hope that my paintings will put a smile on your face,” says she.

Job done, Magdalena, we love them. Pictured is ‘Sugar’ and ‘Thelma & Louise’ — which is an oil on canvas, 40cm x 50cm, €300, and are part of her ‘Moo... ‘ exhibition. She can be contacted on 087-3205585, artmakowska@gmail.com or find her on Facebook.
