* PREGNANCY HEARTBURN: There may be some truth in the old wives’ tale that if you have heartburn while pregnant, you will give birth to a baby with a full head of hair. In a study at John Hopkins University, researchers found a link between pregnancy hormones that relax the sphincter muscle causing heartburn, and foetal hair growth. Eight out of 10 Irish mums suffer from heartburn during pregnancy, usually during the third trimester when their growing baby puts more pressure on the stomach. Rennie is an antacid that can be used when you are pregnant, although it is important to check with your doctor or midwife before taking any medication. Tips to reduce heartburn include eating several small meals a day instead of three large ones, drinking less while eating to reduce the risk of acid reflux and not lying down directly after eating.

* BABY BOUNCER: Tiny Love has launched its Gymini Bouncer, a product designed to combine the company’s activity gyms with the comfort of a bouncer. The activity arches can be adjusted to multiple positions which, the manufacturer says, creates a fun environment where discovery toys can be angled in reach of baby. Toys include a fun crab with rewarding lights and music, a hippo rattle and a teether. The bouncer has two reclining positions and a switch activates gentle vibrations. Suitable from birth, it is available from nursery stores nationwide, €59.99; =www.tinylove.com

* MONSTER PYJAMAS: With a snug fit and a fun bandage and monster print, these cosy cotton pyjamas from M&S will be perfect for little monsters during mid-term. Available in ages 1-7, €12 to €15; www.marksandspencer.ie
