Online and in the shops: Straighten Up Ireland Week
One of the breakout hits of 2013, Disney’s Dottie ‘Doc’ McStuffins is a six-year-old girl who ‘fixes’ toys, with a little help from her stuffed animal friends, Stuffy, Hallie, Lambie and Chilly. The Doc McStuffins Time for Check Up Doll (right), €42.99, is destined to be a Christmas favourite with little girls aged three upwards, according to the Smyths Top Toys list. You can use Doc McStuffins magical check up tools to make Lambie talk, check Lambie’s heart, ears and temperature and Doc even talks and sings the ‘Time for Your Check-Up’ song; www.toys.ie
Adults and children are being urged to ‘straighten up’ during the fifth annual Straighten Up Ireland Week which starts on Monday next. The Chiropractic Association of Ireland (CAI) aim to raise awareness of good posture and spinal health. Their advice to parents is bend from the knees and keep your back as straight as possible when lifting children and equipment like buggies and car seats. The CAI is also urging families to spend three minutes a day doing a series of simple exercises to improve spinal health. Exercise leaflets can be downloaded from their website www.chiropractic.ie
Every parent’s dream is for a healthy start in life for their baby, but thousands of infants around the world still die every year from Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT). Last week TV presenter and mum-of-two, Anna Daly, asked parents across Ireland to support the Pampers and UNICEF Ireland ‘Every Parent’s Dream’ campaign, now in its eighth year. For every view of a campaign video on www.facebook.com/PampersUKIre or specially marked pack of Pampers purchased, Pampers will donate the cost of one vaccine to UNICEF.
