Slane to rock with antiques sale

THE annual Country House Collections’ sale by James Adam has drawn large numbers to Slane Castle in Co Meath over the last two days.

Slane to rock with antiques sale

The auction is taking place over two days this year, on tomorrow and Monday Oct 14, and viewing continues from 11am to 5pm today.

Early indications are that there is a lot of interest on the internet and that the strongest lots, such as a rare pair of Irish 18th century side tables (€150,000-€200,000) and an artwork by William Ashford (€70,000-100,000), have attracted huge attention. The silver has a larger display space below stairs in the castle this year. This will be a competitive sale as it has been carefully put together and there is much to interest both trade and private buyers.

Adams will sell lots 1-450 at 1pm tomorrow and lots 500-774 at 1pm on Monday. The entire catalogue can be viewed online at The auction is tomorrow (Sun Oct 13) and on Monday.

¦ Works by John Kingerlee, Markey Robinson, Kenneth Webb and Graham Knuttel are among the lots due to come under the hammer at Dolan’s sale of Irish art at the Pillo Hotel, Galway at 1pm tomorrow (Oct 13).

Galway based Dolan’s art auction house tends to concentrate on affordable Irish art and this time around there are 190 lots on offer. Viewing is from 10am to 8pm today (Sat Oct 12) and from 10am to the start of the auction at 1pm tomorrow, Sunday Oct 13.
