* Indulge your culinary creativity, with the KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer. I love this colour, just gorgeous — but it’s not just a pretty face, a full metal construction adds to the high-gloss look ensuring a stable and robust mixer. It’ll do all the biz, from cake mixes using the wire whisk to bread and buns with the dough hook. Mmmm cake. The 5ksm150 in pistachio green retails at €575 and is available in all Harvey Norman stores nationwide.

* Bargain time at DFS — the Orbit from the their Studio Collection, is a lovely half price until Oct 13. I’m digging the on-trend grey with very cute multi-coloured buttons but it’s also available in seven different colours including 2 other greys: pewter and silver, as well as red, blue, purple and lime. You can also order the back buttons in the same colour as the rest of the sofa, if the pop of colour isn’t your thing. The Orbit 3-seater sofa is now €649, after Oct 13 it’s €1,299. http://www.dfs.ie

* Tiger started in 1995 in Copenhagen and they’ve recently expanded to Kildare and Dublin. Scandinavian chic and nothing over €30 — watch this space. This tray, €3, features Tiger’s folklore design, a new range available in various items in store.http://www.tiger-stores.ie.

* IKEA often have little quirky extras, unexpected, simple, handy add ons to their furniture. The Stockholm bedside table is a good example. Two of the legs are adjustable to create stability, even if the floor is uneven. Now they just have to get into producing tables for cafes and we are sorted. This mellow yellow version is €80.

* Dulux Paints have some very inspirational lifestyle images at the moment. This one screams ‘Stay inside! Where it’s warm! Warm, I say!’ Who am I to disobey paint? Especially navy paint. €53.99 for five litres of coloured matt emulsion.

* Vernacular is presented by the National Craft Gallery of Ireland and curated by Ann Mulrooney, with exhibition design by Steven McNamara for London’ s design festival. Located in a stand-alone gallery space at Truman Brewery, as part of Tent London it will feature a supporting programme of educational events including talks and demonstrations. These leaded and unleaded Strand Lamps, €420, made with copper and brass tubing by Andrew Clancy, will be on display in Vernacular. For more information http://www.nationalcraftgallery.ie/vernacular

* Go for a bit of a bop with this Normann Copenhagen Bop chair, designed by Jordi Pla. A simple and unique chair with rounded lines and excellent ergonomic proportions. Jordi Pla’s inspiration came from the Baobab tree, known for its characteristically stout trunk. The designer has worked with shapes, proportions, thickness and details giving Bop a soft yet robust feel and she made a total of 200 sketches before she felt she came up with the right design. Bang on, Jordi, it’s perfect. €303 from normann-copenhagen.com.
