From Heaven to hell in Mexico

ON MAY 26, 12 people aged 16 to 33 disappeared without trace after leaving Heaven, an after-hours club in the heart of Mexico City.

The incident occurred at 11.30am on a Sunday morning. “There is no proof that a kidnap occurred,” the city prosecutor announced a week later.

Security cameras were wiped clean but Heaven is situated a stone’s throw from Mexico’s Angel monument, a landmark equivalent to the Spire in O’Connell St, Dublin. Locals witnessed the arrival of eight vehicles outside the club, unloading 17 men who forced the revellers into cars at gunpoint before speeding away.
