Hunt for treasure in Clare castle

More than 50 dealers from all over Ireland will descend on Co Clare for the Dromoland Castle antique and art fair tomorrow (Jun 16).

This is one of the larger annual events on the Hibernian Antique Fair’s annual calendar and this year promises to be bigger than ever before.

The fair has spread out from the Brian Boru Suite to the lobby and balconies in the castle.

This is the place to find everything from furniture, art and jewellery and silver to collectible items like porcelain, glass, lighting, vintage fashion, coins and banknotes.

The price range is very broad. Opening times are from 11am to 6pm.

Meanwhile, Samuel Beckett’s working manuscript for his first novel, Murphy, which could make up to one million pounds sterling in London on July 10, will be on display at Sotheby’s, 16 Molesworth St, Dublin, next Monday (Jun 17).

It forms part of an exhibition of Irish literature in the sale, including works by William O’Brien, James Joyce, GB Shaw and a portrait photograph of WB Yeats.
