It is a measure of how far prices for “brown” furniture have fallen and an indication of the value to be had at auctions these days. Most lots at this sale of contents from East Grove and other residences are modestly estimated and will be sold without reserve.

Chaises longue and day beds from East Grove have estimates of €100-€200, a set of antique library steps is estimated at €100-€300, and a 19th century oak rent table is estimated at just €300-€500. Two large Victorian pitch pine bookcases are estimated at €1,000-€1,500 each, and a marine painting is estimated at €300-€500.
