Online and in the shops: Sudocrem

This weekend, as we celebrate all things Irish, one baby product which continues to be a firm family favourite is Sudocrem. Developed as an antiseptic healing cream by Dublin pharmacist Thomas Smith in 1931, it can be used to treat nappy rash, cuts and grazes, sunburn, minor burns, acne, bedsores and dry skin. The lavender-scented formula has a water-repellent base which forms a protective barrier on the skin and has gained celebrity fans in recent times, with Cheryl Cole and TOWIE stars using it for spots. A recent addition to the range, the 30g tube, €2.15, has also become a firm fixture in handbags.
